Institute of Astronomy (Russian Academy of Sciences) , P.K. Sternberg Astronomical Institute (Moscow University), Scientific Council on Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Euro-Asian Astronomical Society will arrange the international conference "B.V. Kukarkin Centenary Conference: Variable Stars, the Galactic Halo and Galaxy formation" (VS-Halo) on October 12–16 in Zvenigorod (Moscow Region). The conference will commemorate the famous Russian astronomer Boris Vasilyevich Kukarkin, whose centenary is on October 30, 2009.
